Any artist knows that "love is not love"
but a parallel reality of terrible poetry
A tormented soul knows that "art for art's sake"
only counts when the blood doesn't sell.
And
All good poets smoke cigarettes
drink alone, sketch out G-d,
All good poets smoke cigarettes
roll their own, die alone.
Any activist knows that there's more to peace than war
like healing and a time of limbo
A feminist knows the role of men
so she can understand the role of herself.
And
All good poets die before their time
release an epic from beyond the grave
All good poets die before their time
a faithful ode to literary suicide.
